Chiavari Chairs: Wood, Aluminum, or Resin?

Ok, so you’ve decided to buy chiavari chairs.  Great choice!  (Convenient that we’re saying so, huh?)  Perhaps you own a rental company, and this is your first purchase, or you might be looking to update your older supply of used chiavari chairs.  Maybe you’re in the foodservice industry, and looking to chiavaris to be excellent restaurant chairs.  They’re also an excellent choice as ballroom chairs for your hotel banquet hall.  Or maybe you were a recent wedding guest, and you’ve decided that chiavari chairs will be the perfect addition to your dining room.  No matter what, you have to decide whether the warmth of classic wood, the light weight of aluminum, or the strength and durability of resin chiavari chairs is right for you.

Let’s start with wood.  Wood chiavari chairs have a certain warmth, a feel, that any other chair just can’t match.  They also come in a wide variety of colors, some that are only available in wood.  Wood stained colors, such as natural and fruitwood chiavari chairs, are presently only available in wood.  Not to mention that wood chairs are easy to refinish if necessary, after many years of service.  All you have to do is sand down the polyurethane finish, re-stain, and apply another top coat of sealer.  We have even seen many older chiavari chairs painted in fun colors like electric blue or orange!

Finally, wood chairs are less expensive than aluminum or resin chairs, so you will achieve the fastest return on your investment with wood chairs - an important factor to consider.

Now, we all know that a stained or painted wood chair can chip or scratch.  Though we use top-quality coatings for our wood chiavari chairs, any piece of wood finished furniture is susceptible to damage after rough commercial use.  This is an issue that party rental companies are very familiar with. They are routinely stacking and unstacking; loading and unloading their chairs.  Add that to the vibrations caused by miles of travel in a box truck and you have a chair that goes through a lot to get to that wedding.  That’s why we say that no one is tougher on their chairs than a rental company.  The simple fact is, with rigorous use, wood chiavari chairs will require maintenance over the years to keep looking fantastic.

TIP: Chiavari chair covers can greatly increase the life of your wood chairs.  For a small additional investment, chair covers will save hours of labor and money on materials and replacement chairs down the road.

If you don’t wish for the upkeep required over the years with wood, maybe aluminum chiavaris or resin chairs are the choice for you.

Let’s talk about our aluminum chiavari chairs.  They’re resistant to scratching due to the electrostatically powder-coated finish.  Much tougher than liquid paint, a powder-coated chair will withstand years of abuse.

Aluminum by nature also resists rust, so these chairs are perfect for indoor or outdoor use.  You won’t have to worry about your aluminum chiavari chairs rusting like a chair made from steel could.  You certainly don’t want to leave a wood chair out in the rain, but with aluminum you’d have nothing to worry about.

One of the greatest benefits of our aluminum chiavari chairs is superior stackability.  Unlike most wood and resin chiavaris, our aluminum chairs only have a single set of supportive rungs.  The aluminum chairs are factory welded and double-tubed for strength, so we were able to remove the bottom rungs, allowing these chairs to nest closer and stack 10 chairs high instead of 7.  This saves a vast amount of floor space, whether in the party rental warehouse or event venue storage.  And because these aluminum chairs are lightweight - 7 lbs each instead of 12! - the stack of 10 chairs is actually lighter than a stack of 7 wood or resin chairs!

The final option is our solid and resilient resin chiavari chair.  Our resin chiavari chairs are factory assembled, with no moving parts.  They feature durable, high-density resin molded over a single piece steel frame, which is rock-solid.  We’re constantly referring to these chairs as “bomb proof”.

Resin chairs have all the scratch resistance of aluminum, and then some.  They won’t scratch each other when stacked side by side, and each chair has a nice soft pad under the bottom rungs to protect the seat of the chair it sits on.  The resin is the same color down to the steel, so if the chair does become scratched, it is easy to sand and polish to diminish the blemish.  And because the resin is 100% UV stabilized, resin chiavari chairs are another excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor events.

When it comes time for maintenance, your crew may have to find something else to do if you own resin chiavari chairs.  A quick wipe and these chairs are back in action, racking up your return on initial investment.

So what will it be?  The warm appeal of the wood chiavari chair?  Do you need to save some space and still need a quality chair like the aluminum metal chiavari?  Maybe you want a headache-free chair like the resin chiavari.  We have all three varieties of chiavari chairs for sale and in stock, so you can’t go wrong talking to the pros at EventStable.com.  And if you’ve taken the time to read all this, you might as well call us today!

Thinking about buying Chiavari chairs but unsure about which Chiavari chair is right for business? Then you’ve landed in the right place.

Chiavari chairs have been the classic and elegant seating choice for event venues and party rental companies for decades, and were made popular in the United States by the Kennedy wedding.

While they continue to add an elegant touch to any celebration, Chiavari chairs have also evolved with event industry trends. You’ll now see Chiavari chairs in high-end ballroom venues to even rustic barn venues where they are paired with farm tables

No matter what the event or venue, you have to decide whether the warmth of classic wood, the light weight of aluminum, or the strength and durability of resin chiavari chairs is right for you.

Wood Chiavari Chairs

Wood chiavari chairs have a certain warmth and feel that any other chair just can’t match. Not to mention, wood Chiavari chairs are less expensive than aluminum or resin chairs, so you will achieve the fastest return on your investment - an important factor to consider.

Available in over a dozen colors, you’ll be sure to find the perfect chair to compliment your venue, or add variety to your rental inventory. Wood chiavari chairs also stack 7-9 high for transport and storage, and come with a free cushion.

When comparing the different types of Chiavari chairs, it is important to note that because these chairs are made of wood, they will require maintenance over the years to keep them looking brand new.

Resin Chiavari Chairs

If you’re looking for a solid and resilient seating option, Resin Chiavari Chairs are the way to go.  The most important thing to compare in resin chiavari chairs is whether or not the chairs are monoblock or have a steel frame.

Steel frame chiavari chairs are a bit more expensive, but tend to have a better finish and also will hold up to the rigors of a commercial environment better than a pure resin chair.

For those interested in a chiavari chair that is just as tough but a bit lighter, our single piece frame, Monoblock Resin Chiavari Chairs are wobble-free and offer a weight capacity of 1100 lbs.

Our Resin chairs from EventStable have all the scratch resistance of aluminum, and then some.  They won’t scratch each other when stacked side by side, and each chair has a nice soft pad under the bottom rungs to protect the seat of the chair it sits on.

The resin is the same color down to the steel, so if the chair does become scratched, it is easy to sand and polish to diminish the blemish.  In addition, the resin is 100% UV stabilized, making resin chiavari chairs another excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor events.

Both Steel frame and monoblock resin chiavari chairs are available in over 6 colors as well as crystal, or clear. Resin chiavari chairs stack similarly to wood, at 7-9 chairs high depending on your needs.

When it comes time for maintenance, your crew may have to find something else to do if you own resin chiavari chairs.  A quick wipe and these chairs are back in action, racking up your return on initial investment.

Aluminum Chiavari Chairs

While resin Chiavari chairs might seem like the most durable choice, don’t count Aluminum Chiavari chairs out.

Aluminum Chiavari chairs are resistant to scratching due to the electrostatically powder-coated finish. Much tougher than liquid paint, a powder-coated chair will withstand years of event use.

One of the greatest benefits of aluminum Chiavari chairs is superior stackability.  Unlike most wood and resin Chiavaris, our aluminum chairs only have a single set of supportive rungs.  This saves a vast amount of floor space, whether in the party rental warehouse or event venue storage.  And because these aluminum chairs are lightweight - 7 lbs each instead of 12 - the stack of 10 chairs is actually lighter than a stack of 7 wood or resin chairs!

Aluminum chiavari chairs are currently available in 4 colors, including silver chiavari chairs and gold chiavari chairs, and include a free cushion.

So what will it be?  The warm appeal of the Wood Chiavari chair?  Do you need to save some space and still need a quality chair like the Aluminum Metal Chiavari?  Or maybe you want a headache-free chair like the Resin Chiavari.
