What Inventory Should I Buy First for My Party Rental Company?

If you’re starting an event or party rental business, congratulations! We’ve seen the industry grow increasingly over the last several years. There’s a lot we can cover in regards to starting your party rental business, but today we’re talking inventory basics.

You can’t have a party rental company without a base level of inventory, so often we get asked, “What should we purchase first?”

That’s a great question. First and foremost, we would suggest determining what type of events your party rental company will be serving.

Will you only be doing large scale events such as festivals, graduations, etc? Or will you mainly be doing weddings and small-medium scale celebrations?

Whichever you decide, we have a few inventory suggestions that are tried and true:

1. Plastic Folding Chairs

You may not always need fancy, and if that’s the case you’ll want a high return, workhorse.

That my friends is the plastic folding chair. Plastic folding chairs are great because they are, easy maintenance, lightweight, stack high for storage and are easy to transport.

You can keep a great number of these in your inventory to be used for a wide variety of events. Make sure to choose one color or colors that are versatile.

2. Resin Folding Chairs

Resin Folding Chairs or sometimes referred to as wedding chairs, are a step up from the plastic folding chair. Once wedding season begins you’ll see this chair fly out of your inventory.

Resin folding chairs can seamlessly fit into any outdoor or indoor event setting and compliment all of your customer’s decor choices.

From a party rental business perspective, these chairs are also low maintenance in that they simply need a wipe down after events and the chair pads can be replaced over time. These chairs stack well and provide for easy transport and storage.

3. Plastic Folding Tables

Both wood and plastic folding tables are recommended for party rental companies but here we’re going to call out plastic folding tables because unlike wood folding tables that require a bit more maintenance, plastic folding tables are easy to clean, lightweight and stackable.

This is particularly nice if you’re having to set up an event in an outdoor area without paved access.

4. Carts and Dollies

Folding Chair dollies and table carts are essential not only for transportation but also for storage. Proper storage and transportation are vital to the life and longevity of your tables and chairs so make sure to determine how many dollies and carts you will need for the inventory you purchase.
